Amended Postal Act in Germany

Required update for heavy parcel shipping

Starting from the 1st of January 2025, an important change related to the amended Postal Act in Germany, which requires all parcel service providers to reduce the physical strain on employees handling parcel deliveries.

 

In a nutshell

  • Make sure to provide the correct weight and dimensions

  • Make sure to have the good picto on the label

New weight logos and correct dimensions and weight

  • Make sure that you always submit the correct dimensions and weight in your EDI (electronic data) in the fields provided for this purpose WEIGHT and DECLAREDWEIGHT.
  • Implement the new weight logos in accordance with the new legislation.

We will check the shipping label for you

Once the changes have been implemented, you can send the label for validation to [email protected] before mid-March 2025.

Update to the latest version of DPD Shipper

To comply with the new legislation, you must update Shipper offline to version 31. The version you are currently working with can be found via Settings > System information.

Always fill in the correct dimensions and weight

Do you work with Shipper online or Shipper Webservice? Make sure that you always send the correct dimensions and weight with your shipments in the WEIGHT field provided for this purpose. No further technical adjustments are required from you.

DPD provides the correct logos on your shipping labels

Once this field is filled in, we automatically provide the necessary logos on the labels.
