Dear Customers, we would like to inform you that from 1 January 2025, we are significantly simplifying the format of the energy surcharge for you.
We are implementing a unified energy surcharge for both domestic and international transportation. In order to maintain a consistent European logic, we will now use the European Oil Bulletin as the source for the diesel price. The entire Central and Eastern European region will gradually transition to the same harmonized model, with DPD Czech Republic already making a parallel adjustment. This induces another simplification for you, our customers, especially in view of the significant international parcel flows transported by DPD, particularly between countries in our region.
This change is also related to the growing number and importance of export parcels transported throughout Europe by Geopost, the largest parcel delivery network in Europe, of which we are an integral part. This means there will be no more local exceptions and we are moving towards a simplified and harmonized model.
The amount of the surcharge will be published regularly in advance here on the website, as you have been used to.
DPD's fleet of delivery vehicles consists of internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles and low-emission BIO LNG vehicles. Fuel and energy for delivery vehicles make up a significant part of the courier company's costs for parcel delivery.
The amount of these inputs is subject to development reflected in a dynamic energy surcharge, calculated each month based on the current average prices of diesel, BIO LNG and electricity, in proportion to the representation of the fuel type in DPD's fleet.
As of 1 January 2025, a unified model for calculating the energy surcharge is applied across the CEE region.
The amount of the energy surcharge for the road transport is based on the average price of electricity as determined by The Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) and published monthly on the URSO website, the price of LNG published by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, and the price of diesel published on the Weekly Oil Bulletin.

As of 1st August 2024, DPD has 25% electric vans, 15% BIO LNG drive vehicles, and 60% diesel fuel drive vehicles in its delivery fleet. The ratio of vehicles with a certain type of drive is taken into account in the calculation of the Energy fee.
The average price of diesel fuel for the previous month: 1,520 €
The average price of LNG for the previous month: 2,580 €
In the case of the price of electricity, according to the decision of the SR Government a uniform price of € 98,7 MWh is applied.
The Energy fee for the month of September will be: 8,50 % (5,4 %+ 2,1 % + 1 %)
According to Act No. 25/2007 Coll. and Decree No. 388/2009, a new system of specified road infrastructure taxation will enter into force in Slovakia since 01 January 2010. Paid road infrastructure form defined sections of first-class roads, motorways and highways – their using will be defrayed on the basis of electronically obtained data. This change will concern vehicles with total weight exceeding 3.5 tons or vehicle combinations with the same weight intended for transporting of goods or more than nine persons including the driver.
Introduction of new rates of rod-toll will be reflected in increased costs for shipping companies which will be forced to adjust prices of their services and products. Like other delivery and shipping companies operating with vehicles exceeding 3.5 tons, also DPD decided to take into account part of these increased costs in its tariffs.
Since 01 January 2010, DPD introduces so-called Toll Rate. Its amount is set to 0.019 € without VAT, for every begun kilogram of the parcel. Toll Rate will be invoiced as a separate item in the form of a surcharge for every shipped parcel.
Calculation example: for a 4-kilogram parcel, to the standard price will be added 4 x 0.019 € = 0.076 € without VAT.
Like all carriers, DPD is obliged to keep pace with international sanctions lists and comply with imposed embargoes. Under international law, we must not provide services to individuals, companies and governments incorporated in international sanctions lists. Ensuring compliance with the above rules, we screen sender and receiver names and addresses of very single parcel in international delivery against binding trade sanctions, embargoes, and other sanctions lists. This rule applies to all DPD branches grouped under the Geopost brand within Europe and all international parcel flows. Under this new obligation, we are forced to introduce a security charge for all international shipments in the amount of €0.20 per package and for the Czech Republic in the amount of €0.10 per package.
