DPD has had a record year, transporting almost 20 million parcels

Last year, the courier company DPD transported almost 20 million parcels in Slovakia, thus achieving a historical record result. A significant increase was recorded especially in the number of shipments going to DPD Pickup points, both Pickup parcelshops and self-service lockers Pickup station.

The total number of shipments handled by DPD last year increased by 14.7%. This result represents the highest number of parcels delivered to addressees in one year so far.

In particular, the greatest interest in transport was recorded in the last five weeks before Christmas (from 18 November to 23 December), during which the company delivered up to 2.8 million parcels to online shop customers, an increase of 10% compared to the previous Christmas season. DPD also recorded its busiest day ever last year, namely Wednesday 18 December, when it transported up to 200,000 parcels.

Despite the significant increase in volumes, we managed to maintain the speed and quality of our deliveries.

In particular, the use of DPD Pickup points (Pickup parcelshops and Pickup stations) grew significantly, with up to 28% more parcels going to them compared to 2023, with an increase of up to 40% in December. According to the latest DPD E-shopper Barometer, up to 51% of regular online shoppers have their parcels delivered at least occasionally to collection points, while 31% use self-service lockers. This trend confirms the growing popularity of flexible and convenient solutions that allow customers to pick up their parcels at a time and place that suits them best.

DPD currently enables delivery to 1,800 own and partner collection points and self-service lockers, and plans to increase this number further. More than 500 DPD self-service lockers are expected to be added across the country during the course of this year.

Expanding the network of self-service points is one of our main priorities for the coming period. We want to enable more and more people to be able to conveniently access their parcels.

Responsible business towards nature and society continued at DPD SK in 2024. We added 30 electric vans to our fleet in the year, bringing the total to 176 to date. Collectively, they all travelled 39.6% more kilometres than they did in 2023 and delivered 43.9% more parcels than they did last year. For the full year, we consumed approximately 469 MWh for electric delivery operations and generated 176 MWh with our own power plants.
