I am expecting a parcel from the UK. As a recipient, do I have to pay import costs?

The United Kingdom (UK) is a customs country with rules for importing and exporting products and there are costs involved.

Import costs:

Import costs consist of import duties and VAT. All goods under £ 135 are subject to VAT. Goods over £ 135 are subject to both VAT and import duties.

The amount of the import duties depends on the value of the product. Customs uses the HS code of the product that the shipper has provided. If you have any questions about the amount of the import duties, you must contact the sender.

If the sender has sent the parcel from the UK under the incoterm DAP NP (Duties & Taxes Not Paid), DPD also charges a handling fee of 5,95 euros. You as the recipient will have to pay all import costs.
