DPD has a very ambitious green ambition. For years, we have been investing in making our vehicle fleet greener. This results in a variety of vehicles running on Diesel, Electricity and the use of Kerosene for air transport. We charge a surcharge for the use of these various types of energy. This can fluctuate. Hence, DPD charges this mix of fuels monthly as a surcharge on the parcel price for all our national and international products.

Before the 1st of the coming month, DPD publishes the energy surcharge applicable for the coming month for road and air transport.

The energy surcharge consists of:

Road Transport surcharge - diesel and electricity. The basis of this surcharge is the consumer price of diesel fuel for the Netherlands, including the levies and taxes as published by the Europese Commissie. Electricity is calculated by Statista publications.
Air transport surcharge - kerosene. The basis of this surcharge are the kerosene prices. The surcharge is linked to the monthly average of the daily price of a barrel of kerosene (aircraft fuel - U.S. Gulf Coast). The surcharge is calculated and published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on a monthly basis..
