Q: Why is the air quality monitoring programme beneficial for DPD France ?

With this programme, we strengthen the credibility and sincerity of our environmental commitments with our customers. With this transparency, we show that we know that we are part of the problem and therefore part of the solution for a healthier, more livable city. We can therefore demonstrate the relevance of our actions, because by investing in zero or low emission vehicles to deliver Paris, we are providing immediate solutions to today's public health problem.

Q: What would you say to the other subsidiaries In Europe who are about to implement the programme ?

This is an opportunity to both strengthen and deepen our CSR commitment and thus further enhance its credibility with our teams and customers (especially consignees), but it is also a different way to interact with local authorities. The air quality monitoring programme does not only give us the opportunity to engage in discussions with consumers, but it is also a rare opportunity to present our know-how and our involvement to the authorities. This is an opportunity to promote our concrete actions to reduce our environmental footprint and build tomorrow's urban delivery in a transparent way.

Across the world, communities are demanding cleaner air. We recognized we were in a unique position to help. DPD Portugal partnered with the cities of Lisbon, Paris and Madrid as a pilot project. Using next generation lasers, our delivery fleet and our depots monitored PM 2.5 air pollution levels in real time. The comprehensive data enabled Lisbon’s authorities to design a unique low emission zone in the heart of the city. Building on the success, DPDgroup plan to expand the initiative in 20 key cities across Europe by 2021. It’s an example of the good that can come from acting local for the benefit of cities and citizens.
