When will my parcel arrive?

If the consignment is in delivery, we will notify the recipient by SMS or e-mail of the delivery time with a 1 hour accuracy. If the proposed time is not suitable for the recipient, the time and place of receipt can be changed via the notification. Changes usually occur the next business day. We recommend that the customer always makes changes via self-service, because the DPD customer service cannot offer the recipient any alternatives other than those specified in the self-service.

Delivery times.

What happens if the courier cannot contact the recipient?

We try to deliver all goods on the first attempt. If the courier cannot reach the recipient at the address or by telephone, the parcel will be automatically forwarded to a DPD parcel locker. If the consignment does not fit in the locker, it will be forwarded to delivery again if the contact information is correct. If the courier cannot contact the recipient in the second delivery, the consignment is taken to the depot, where it is stored for 7 working days. After seven working days the parcel will be sent back to the sender.

How can a parcel be tracked?

Each consignment has a unique 14-digit parcel number.

What is the function of the DPD parcel label?

The DPD parcel label performs several functions at once: it is a source of information regarding where the parcel comes from and where it is headed to; the basis for the transport contract; spedition order; proof of insurance, and basis for invoicing. The parcel label holds all the relevant information, meaning that one label per parcel is sufficient.

How much can one parcel weigh?

Courier parcels:

max 31.5 kg.

Parcel locker parcels:

in Baltics max 31,5 kg, rest of Europe 20 kg (except Portugal 10 kg).

What if I don\'t know the weight and dimensions of the parcel?

Transport costs can only be calculated accurately if all the information required for delivery is available. This is the only way to avoid unnecessary surcharges for parcels that have not been properly weighed or measured. If it is not possible to determine prior to shipment, whether the consignment is within the permitted weight and dimension limits, additional handling fees for an oversized consignment may be added.

DPD reserves the right to change the fee if the sender\'s parcel data differs from the measurements made.

Which documents are required to send international consignments?

Parcels within the EU are transported based on the parcel label. Various documents are required for shipment outside the EU (in addition to Norway and Switzerland).

Depending on the type of goods and the customs requirements of the importing country, they are as follows:

Commercial invoice

The commercial invoice must be sent with the parcel which is shipped to a country outside the EU. A commercial invoice is used in cases where the goods hold commercial value. A pro forma invoice is used in cases where the goods hold no commercial value.

Movement certificate

A movement certificate EUR-1 is a priority document for goods manufactured in the EU and is usually used to calculate the import duty to be paid by the consignee. The EUR-1 certificate is valid for the movement of goods within the European Economic Area and in several African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, among others.

Export declaration

All consignments with a value above €1,000 sent outside the EU must be accompanied by an export declaration. If the value is above €3,000, the customs authority responsible must process the documents in advance.

Can a courier package a consignment for a customer?

No, couriers do not provide a packaging service. We only accept consignments that are already packaged. For the safe transport of the goods, please package the consignments correctly, according to our packaging instructions.

Learn more about how to package properly.

What can be used as packaging material?

If the consignment is not packed correctly, there is a risk that the consignment will break during transport. The consignment must be able to withstand shocks and vibrations during transport. It is therefore important to package your consignment properly.

Outer packaging

Always use high-quality packaging that is strong enough for the contents. Make sure the package is large enough for filling material. If there are old labels on the packaging, they must all be removed.

Inner packaging

Filling material must be added in such a way that the contents of the parcel cannot move around in the box. Fragile and easily damaged goods must be packaged separately. The contents of the parcel must be protected on all sides with filling material and a fragile consignment label must be attached to the outer package.
