DPD is investing € 300,000 in a data warehousing and analysis platform

DPD, a courier and logistics company, is developing data warehousing and analytics solutions that enable key data to be clouded and processed in near real time. The new solution increases the speed of parcel delivery and the flexibility of the service for consumers.

This is an investment of 300,000 euros and the new solution will be introduced in all Baltic countries. The project is being developed in collaboration with data solutions company Exacaster, and the new data warehousing and analysis platform will be located in Microsoft Azure Cloud.

“The aim of the project is to create a stable, secure and flexible data platform that meets DPD’s data analytical needs in the Baltic States. The new cloud-based solution enables us to improve and automate data-related processes, as data processing will take place practically in real time, ”commented Remo Kirss, CEO of DPD Estonia. “It’s a big step towards a data-driven organization.”

The volume of parcel shipments at DPD increased by more than a million parcels last year, and the number couriers’ home-deliveries increased by more than half. According to Kirss, the recent growth of e-commerce and parcel transport volumes places new demands on fast data processing.

“Companies operating in the logistics and parcel business are becoming more and more digital technology companies. Data transfer is growing very fast in our business and companies are facing the need to choose the most advanced technologies, “explained Kirss.

The new data warehousing and analysis platform allows the company to receive important information such as couriers’ load, parcel lockers’ occupancy, customer flow, delivery and sorting data, etc. without any time delays.

“Accurate and secure data collection, processing and storage, the ability to use the data to make strategic or day-to-day business decisions and to plan sales campaigns – all this gives an additional impetus to improve the quality of DPD’s services,” said Kirss.

The phasing-in of new data management solutions is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2022 and will be completed by mid-2023.
