German Trade Association honours DPD Store in Berlin

Every year, the Handelsverband Deutschland e.V. (German Trade Association) awards prizes to the best and most interesting shops in the "Stores of the Year" competition. The jury evaluates the shops according to their degree of innovation, customer benefit, value creation potential, experience value, exemplary function and unique selling proposition. DPD made it onto the winners' podium with the first DPD Store in Germany, in Berlin, and took second place in the "Concept Store" category.

The DPD Store in Berlin recently celebrated its first birthday: on 14 April 2022 the parcel service provider opened the store at Frankfurter Allee 31 in Berlin Friedrichshain, thus opening a new chapter in its long corporate history. With the now award-winning innovative future concept for sustainable mail order DPD has created a unique brand and shopping experience. Customers in the catchment area can have their orders delivered directly to the store, try them on there in a relaxed atmosphere and also conveniently order returns. Boxes that are no longer needed are given a new lease of life by being passed on free of charge. In addition, the store functions as a microdepot from which packages are delivered to the neighbourhood by e-load bike.

"With the self-powered store, we started a pilot project about a year ago. The fact that we have now received an award for our concept naturally fills us with pride. In addition to the award, however, it is above all the daily positive customer feedback that shows us that the path we have chosen is the right one, says Jan Kerkhoff, Senior Group Manager Corporate Delivery at DPD Germany.
