DPD App wins German Digital Award and DPD is in the premier category of Germany's "Top Service" survey

  • The DPD App has won Bronze in the German Digital Awards in Mobile Apps – User Experience / Usability category
  • In the Germany's "Top Service" awards, too, DPD is among the companies with the greatest customer focus
  • The app development is an ongoing project, and the latest update once more provides innovative features

Aschaffenburg/Berlin, 27 April 2018 – The Federal Digital Business Association yesterday presented the German Digital Awards for the fourth time, with nearly 500 entries competing for precious metal in 28 categories. DPD Germany was one of the winners in the Mobile Apps - User Experience / Usability category, receiving the Digital Award in Bronze.

Presented for the first time in 2015, the German Digital Awards recognise top achievements in digital operations, and bring together more than 500 participants from the worlds of politics, business, the media and the digital field. The German Digital Awards represent the highlight of an extremely successful week for DPD, because the day before the provider of parcel and express services had once more received Germany's "TOP SERVICE" award. This means that DPD Deutschland GmbH is among the country's top 50 companies with outstanding customer focus. The award is based on customer surveys, together with an evaluation model developed by the Institute for Market-oriented Management directed by Prof. Dr. Christian Homburg from Mannheim University. Further organisers of the competition are the "Handelsblatt" business journal, the consultants ServiceRating and the market research Institute ipsos.

"For us these renewed awards for our digital services represent both confirmation and an incentive"

Michael Knaupe, Director Customer Experience & Communication at DPD

"For us these renewed awards for our digital services represent both confirmation and an incentive," states Michael Knaupe, Director Customer Experience & Communication at DPD, adding: "The digital world is a permanent journey, and we are working constantly to ensure that the experience we offer our customers gets better day by day. It's therefore all the more encouraging to us that our app has received such prestigious recognition."

A new feature of the DPD App: one-tap neighbour selection

On the basis of user feedback the DPD App is subject to continuous optimisation, together with the addition of new features. The latest innovation in the DPD App is that anyone wishing to specify a neighbour as an alternative consignee is now shown a map by the app. A delivery address within a 150 m radius can then be selected simply by tapping the map. The app then automatically provides the relevant street and house number, and all the user has to do is enter the name of the selected neighbour. This is very helpful for many consignees, because they may not immediately have the full address of the specific neighbour to hand. Redirecting the parcel to a neighbour is only one of the options which consignees have if they aren't at home when the delivery is made. Further options are, for example, redirection of the parcel to a Pickup parcelshop, or delivery on a different day.
