Aschaffenburg, February 19, 2025 – In times of growing social tensions, DPD is sending a clear signal for democracy, diversity and tolerance. The company is participating in the “Diversity makes us strong” initiative, which calls for dialogue and advocates for an open, inclusive society. DPD particularly emphasizes the importance of people with a migration background, who are a mainstay of the company and the entire logistics industry.
Our democracy is based on freedom, diversity and tolerance – values that must be actively lived and protected. As logistics companies, we connect people every day and move millions of packages – smooth operations would not be possible without the performance of our employees with family roots outside Germany. They are the backbone of our company.
Dr Karsten Schwarz, CEO of DPD Germany
A significant proportion of DPD’s workforce has a migration background. This diversity not only reflects society, but is also a crucial factor for success. People from a wide range of backgrounds work day in and day out to maintain the logistics infrastructure - from the depot to the customer's front door.
Carolin Bouwer, Chief Human Resources Officer of DPD Germany, emphasizes: "Diversity is a strength. We need the courage to accept different perspectives and to discuss them constructively. Integration is not an abstract concept, but a part of everyday life - especially in our industry. Without people with a migration background, logistics as we know it today would not be functional."
By participating in the “Diversity makes us strong” initiative, DPD is reaffirming its commitment to social cohesion and active integration.
“Our society thrives on exchange, innovation and diversity,” Schwarz continues. “Democracy means participation – this applies to companies as well as to each individual. As employers, we see it as our responsibility not only to create jobs, but also to promote a climate of respect and equal opportunities. Diversity is not an end in itself – it is essential for economic success and social stability.”
Promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace is a central part of the values of the parent company Geopost and an important pillar of its vision as an “employer of choice”. Geopost operates in more than 50 countries and builds on the diversity of its teams. In November 2024, Geopost was named “Diversity Leader 2025” by the Financial Times. The ranking was compiled on behalf of the Financial Times by the market research institute Statista. The basis was a survey of more than 100,000 employees of European companies on five diversity aspects: gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnic origin and people with disabilities. In addition to employee feedback, the ranking also includes measurable indicators such as the proportion of women in management and diversity-promoting communication.
