Aschaffenburg, June 29th, 2023: DPD Germany is now delivering even more parcels in Berlin emission-free by cargo bike. The international parcel and express service provider is using the provider-neutral micro depot at Tempelhofer Damm (Te-Damm) provided by Smart City | DB for this purpose.
On October 1, 2020, Smart City | DB, in cooperation with the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district as the project initiator, opened the microdepot at Te-Damm, which is proportionally funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport. The location is ideally suited for parcel delivery with cargo bikes, both in terms of the recipient structure and accessibility. At the start of the new cooperation DPD will initially use two e-cargo bikes from the Berlin-based manufacturer ONO. These will be used to deliver up to 100 parcels per day. If necessary, the volume can be increased by recharging at the micro depot. A fleet expansion is also possible in the future.
"We have already been working successfully as a partner with Smart City | DB at the microdepot in Berlin Alexanderplatz station for over one and a half years. We are therefore very pleased to be able to further intensify this cooperation at Te-Damm."

"In doing so, we use both microdepots as drop-off and transshipment points. The parcels are delivered in the morning and sorted into the delivery bike boxes. They are then distributed to the surrounding districts. In this way, we as a parcel service provider make an important contribution to reducing greenhouse gases and noise."
