DPD and the LoadRunner: Scenarios for use in the warehouse logistics of tomorrow

Aschaffenburg, June 7th 2023: DPD Germany, the KION Group and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) are already working together on innovative solutions for tomorrow's warehouse logistics. One result of this partnership is the so-called LoadRunner: only recently, the autonomous vehicles developed by the IML whizzed across the hall floor at up to ten metres per second as part of an initial practical test at the DPD depot in Cologne-Porz. Thanks to the combination of powerful conveyor technology and AI-based systems, the LoadRunners delivered the parcels to the right place at lightning speed. Together with the institute, the KION Group now wants to bring the autonomous swarm robot to market maturity. For DPD as an industrial partner, the successful test run under realistic conditions has already provided important insights for scaling the system. What these are and why the LoadRunners have the potential to raise sorting performance from incoming goods to outgoing goods to a new level of efficiency is impressively demonstrated in the following video clip.

"Artificial intelligence, swarm robotics, parcel sorting in seconds - at DPD, we can't wait to get LoadRunner up and running across the board."
