Data protection concerns us all

As a delivery driver you have to comply with postal secrecy and data protection at all times. Always
treat all information about parcels, shippers and consignees as well as DPD employees or your employer
confidentially and securely. Further information can be found in our data protection information at dpd.com/de/de/datenschutz.

Customer data is taboo

Customer data is taboo

  • Our employees and those acting on our behalf (system partners/delivery personnel) are only allowed to process the data which is required for transport or for billing purposes.
  • Viewing the contents of parcels or letters is prohibited. All persons involved in shipping have to commit themselves in writing to maintaining postal and data secrecy.

Your vehicle

123 123

Your vehicle

  • Never leave papers containing personal data (e.g. delivery lists, lists of hazardous goods, address lists or delivery declarations) openly in the vehicle, but always keep them in the driver‘s folder.

  • Never leave documents in plain view behind the windscreen.

  • When you leave your vehicle it should be locked at all times.

  • When returning a rented vehicle, no documents and/or parcels must be left behind in the vehicle.

Dispose of documents - but correctly!

Dispose of documents - but correctly!

  • Lists, letters and all other documents containing personal data (e.g. delivery or address lists, hazardous goods lists, delivery declarations) must be disposed of at the end of the tour exclusively in the data protection bins provided for this purpose in the depot, or handed over to the system partner supervisor at the depot.

Your MDU

132 132

Your MDU

  • Never leave your MDU unattended in a vehicle or on the road.
  • If you have lost your MDU you must report this to the depot immediately!
  • You may only use your MDU for delivery purposes.
  • Consignee addresses: if advance notification data is available, only this data should be used - it must not be changed.

Be careful with taking photos

123 123

Be careful with taking photos

  • When a parcel is delivered it is not permitted to take photos, for example of people or house doorways.
  • Photos may only be taken with the MDU to document damage to parcels.
  • The photos should only show parcels and parcel information.
  • Photography with private mobile phones is not permitted.

Delivery to a neighbour

123 123

Delivery to a neighbour

  • Often the consignee is not at home and the parcels are left with a neighbour. But be careful! This could violate postal secrecy and make the processing of cases of damage or loss more difficult. As a result the neighbour also indirectly receives personal data without the consent of the consignee!
  • A neighbour should always be a direct neighbour, in other words living in a flat in the same building or in the house next door. The neighbour must not be more than 50 metres away from the actual consignee address.
Always put a parcel notification card in the consignee‘s letterbox.
  • You must not pass on telephone numbers, email addresses or any other information about shipments to third parties.
  • Delivery to a neighbour is only permitted if the consignee is a private person. Delivery to a neighbour is not permitted for confidential consignee addresses such as law offices, doctors’ surgeries, medical laboratories or tax offices.

Parcel notification card

Parcel notification card

  • If the consignee is not present when the parcel is delivered, a parcel notification card must be left in the consignee‘s letterbox.
  • It is not permitted to push the card under the front door or attach it to the door (especially in the case of high-rise buildings or apartment blocks).
  • On this parcel notification card you should only scan the parcel which is intended for the relevant consignee.
  • A parcel notification card must never be used more than once.
  • Any deviation from this leads to a reportable data protection violation.

The deposit okay

123 123

The deposit okay

  • A parcel should only be left at the agreed location if the consignee has given permission to do so with a deposit okay.

Assignment to a stop

123 123

Assignment to a stop

  • Parcels for different consignees must not be delivered to the same stop.
  • A parcel must not be delivered at a different stop that does not correspond to the original consignee address.
  • Deviations from this rule violate data protection legislation, because shipping information is passed on to third parties!

There’s a phone number on the parcel - am I allowed to call?

123 123

There’s a phone number on the parcel - am I allowed to call?

  • If additional information such as the telephone number is printed on the parcel, this does not mean that you are allowed to call this number. Check with the depot first to see whether notification by telephone is permitted. Never use WhatsApp or similar programmes to contact the consignee.
  • You must not pass on telephone numbers, email addresses or any other information about shipments to third parties.

A damaged parcel - what now?

123 123

A damaged parcel - what now?

  • Sometimes a parcel is so badly damaged that the contents are visible or have to be repackaged. Each depot has a secure area (IHP) for this purpose and specially trained staff to whom these damaged parcels must be handed over for further processing.
  • Postal and letter secrecy also applies to parcels!
  • When repackaging parcels, old documents must not be used as padding material - in this way personal information could fall into the hands of third parties.

Opening parcels

123 123

Opening parcels

  • Only consignees have the right to open their parcel!

Redirection to a parcel shop

Redirection to a parcel shop

  • Make sure you assign the parcel notification card to the right parcel and consignee. Incorrectly assigned parcel notification cards lead to a violation of data protection because shipping information is passed
    on to third parties!
  • Only leave the parcel notification card in the consignee‘s letterbox and nowhere else, to make sure that the shipping information does not reach third parties!
  • Please note any instructions regarding special parcels (e.g. confidential DateV parcels or parcels containing medicine). These may only be delivered personally to the consignee.
  • You must not pass on telephone numbers, email addresses or any other information about shipments to third parties.
