Dear Customer,
In connection with the amendment of the postal law in Germany, as of 1 January 2025 it is obligatory to mark parcels delivered in Germany that are heavier than 10 kg or 20 kg with a specific symbol indicating the corresponding weight category.

Parcels heavier than 10 kg

Parcels heavier than 20 kg
Due to the amendment of German postal law it is mandatory to provide the correct weight of the parcel when creating an order to Germany.
The new regulations in Germany came into effect on January 1, 2025, but at DPD, we have decided to accommodate our partners and give them enough time to adopt these changes. Therefore, there will be a transition period until March 31, 2025, during which incorrectly labeled heavier parcels will be manually relabeled at DPD network depots. This is to ensure a smooth transition to the new regulations without unnecessary inconvenience.

Important notice
Despite the transition period, we ask senders to start indicating the correct weight for parcels to Germany as soon as possible. This step will help prevent delivery delays and ensure compliance with the new legal requirements.”
If your parcels to Germany do not comply with the above requirements, we may have to introduce mislabelling charges for such parcels depending on how the regulation will be enforced. Please avoid this risk now.
What to do next as a sender?
In case you use the DPD Shipping app, API connection or connection via an integration partner such as Balíkobot, B-Hit and others, you are only required to indicate the actual weight of each parcel to Germany when creating your order.
If you create your own labels, it is necessary that they are adjusted in accordance with the current legislation as shown in the pictures bellow. The correct form of the weight pictogram that must be included on the label can be downloaded by clicking on the button below (pictograms are in .svg and .png format).
Geopost, of which DPD is a part, anticipates that similar regulations will be introduced in other countries in the near future. Therefore, we strongly recommend indicating the correct weight of the parcel now for all export shipments.
