Interview with Bianca
1. What originally motivated you to join DPD?
Since I knew people who had already worked at DPD, I knew from the outset that this job would offer me a new experience and the opportunity to keep learning new things. That motivated me.
2. What is your job and what do you particularly like about it?
As Team Leader Infeed, I start my day in the warehouse with my team. Our daily goal is to convey the importance of order and quality to every employee and to work on it continuously. I am aware that motivation is a decisive factor in employee satisfaction. That’s why I do everything I can to motivate my team and make sure that every employee is happy.
3. What skills or knowledge that you acquired at DPD have helped you the most?
In my four or so years at DPD, I have learnt a lot, in particular how to talk to employees effectively, guide and motivate them. I have learnt to remain strong in any situation and to react appropriately. As a warehouse worker, I have internalised all the processes and am now looking forward to onboarding new employees. I am proud to be able to help my colleagues at all times and pass on my knowledge.
4. What challenges do you face in your day-to-day work (keyword: male-dominated industry) and how do you deal with them?
The biggest challenge for me was leading a team. This position gave me the opportunity to learn about this male-dominated industry. Even though many people think it’s a difficult thing for me, it isn’t. Given that we work in the warehouse with light or heavy parcels, it seems normal to me that most of the employees are men. I always feel respected by my colleagues and do not think that being a woman and working in a ‘man’s world’ is an obstacle.
5. What’s your ideal day off when you’re not working?
It gives me great pleasure when I can be with my family and spend time together. We particularly enjoy going to the mountains and enjoying our time together there.
6. Which person has inspired you the most, professionally or privately, and why?
The person who inspired and motivated me the most was my boss. He helped me with my training as a team leader – I learned many things from him that I probably would never have otherwise. I can say that he is the person who has always been there for me. He taught me how to deal with any situation. He is not only my boss, but also a great colleague. He’s the type of boss who always comes to our aid and is always there for us. I am very grateful for that.
7. What are your future goals or plans, both professionally and personally?
My plans for the future are to improve in my work and continue to learn new things. Personally, I still want to be just as happy and fulfilled with my daughter and all my loved ones.
8. How would your best friend describe you in three words?
Quiet, happy and friendly.
