It is now almost exactly one year since we successfully opened our new depot in Bern on Ostermundigenstrasse.
Back then, Beri and Jasmine published an article in which they took a closer look at the two locations.
And now we have a summary of the first year, where we get to the bottom of the following questions
What has actually changed?
Renato Boccella, our depot manager:
As depot manager, I can say that the infrastructure is currently one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. We have developed new working methods and put state-of-the-art and automated systems into operation that are still unique in Switzerland. But the rooms are also bigger, we now have changing rooms, showers, a nice cafeteria and a break room – so much more comfort overall.
All of this has automatically led to a better and more motivated atmosphere, and my colleagues, as well as myself, are proud to work at this depot. With all the other developments that DPD Switzerland has also made this year, our overall performance has also automatically improved so that we can satisfy our customers even better."
Dominique Champoud, our security officer:
Fortunately, it’s not just the address that has changed. The new depot boasts many positive aspects:
the new space at the depot and the new infrastructure have created a completely new working atmosphere. Where we had to climb over the facility and parcels in the old depot, we now have direct access to every driver. This is a whole new world in terms of work and safety. The depot is superbly lit so that there is also enough light to work everywhere. The new location will bring many new opportunities for employees, such as public transport, shopping facilities, restaurants and local recreation areas.
The infrastructure we are allowed to use today is a completely different league compared to the old depot. Today, we are proud to welcome guests and customers.
Personally, I feel very much at home at the new location and really enjoy being in the new depot."
What is the feedback from the other employees on site?
Granit Ahmeti, Check-in team leader:
The employees on site are much more motivated than at the old depot thanks to the new and improved infrastructure. There is much more space, the offices are better and the working atmosphere has also improved as a result. In addition, we are now paying much more attention to the maintenance of the depot. It is cleaned and maintained by our employees every day so that it always looks like new."
Eliane Scheurer, our quality responsible:
The new, large and bright depot has also made the people who work in it more open and enjoy communicating with each other.
The employees laugh together and have fun with each other from time to time. Be it a tour contractor, driver or DPD employee. After all, you come from the same family and you feel that all the more now. Everyone plays their part in keeping the depot as clean and tidy as they found it when they moved in a year ago. I think everyone enjoys coming to work – at least I do."
