Thirty years of DPD Switzerland: interview with Alan

A lot happens in 30 years. And that’s how it is at DPD, too. The most important thing is the people behind the scenes, the ones working hard every day to keep things moving. We decided to get to know some of these people a little better, and you can read about it here:

1. How long have you been working at DPD?

I’ve been working at DPD for over 14 years now. In January, it’s 15.

2. Summarise your career at DPD in a few sentences.

Since joining DPD, I’ve worked in several departments. All in all, my career has been very exciting with many different lessons learnt and challenges faced. On the whole, however, we have a very close relationship with our employers and employees.
I started out as a customer service agent and, after four and a half years, switched to Aftersales, which I did for a total of four years. I then moved to our Commercial department as a business analyst. After another four years, I expanded into marketing, where I still work as the CRM team leader.

3. What is your current job and what do you particularly like about it?

I am the CRM team leader, responsible for our customer data, CRM processes, data quality, marketing automation and leading the team. CRM stands for customer relationship management – in other words, my job is to strengthen the relationship between the company and its customers in the long term.
What I particularly like about my job is that you can introduce innovations and develop processes around the customer’s life cycle. In a nutshell, you are systematically involved in the entire customer journey, so that you can identify and optimise potential customer needs.

4. When you think back, is there a situation or event that has particularly stuck in your mind since you joined DPD?

Yes, the first warm-up party, where the new CEO Tilmann was present.

5. What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to go to the gym, make music and travel during my holidays.

6. What does music mean to you?

Music is my passion, way of processing emotions and therapy. I’ve been making music since I was 15.

7. How did you get into music?

I was in a recording studio at the age of 15, and a microphone was pressed into my hand with the words ‘start rapping’ and that’s how I got into it.

8. What kind of music do you make and what fascinates you most about it?

I do rap music. The reason for this is that this genre of music is multifaceted. What fascinates me most is how diverse music is and how different styles of music can come together to create something special.

9. Do you write your own songs?

Yes, the lyrics are all written by me. I actually have songs on Spotify, too. My stage name is ‘Denaro’. Feel free to listen:

10. What has been your biggest performance so far?

I performed on stage at Openair Frauenfeld in 2019. It was really cool to perform in front of a crowd of 3,000 to 4,000 people.

11. What advice would you give to someone who is in the process of realising their dream as an artist?

The passion for music always has to be the first priority. When it’s there, it’s there. Music is the foundation of everything. It is a game of patience with peaks and troughs. At the same time, it is very important to remain authentic and to stay true to yourself as an artist.
