At DPD, employee growth and well-being are top priorities. This interview explores how the company combines innovative benefits, unexpected career opportunities, and flexibility to meet each individual’s needs. Through the words of Leo, Projects & Relations Specialist, we discover an environment where creativity is encouraged, bold ideas are celebrated, and talents are supported in their development. An inspiring glimpse into what makes DPD a truly unique and engaging employer.
DPD: «What are the main benefits offered to DPD employees?»
Leo: «Sure, we offer the usual benefits - parking spaces, employee discounts, our Book of Benefits, discounted language courses, and good insurance conditions. A special highlight: DPD is one of the few companies that covers 100% of daily sickness benefits insurance. But what really makes DPD interesting are the unusual development opportunities and how modern we work.
Career paths here can take unexpected turns - and that's a good thing. We have drivers who now work in IT, people who've moved from customer service to marketing or sales - these kinds of developments happen naturally here.
What I particularly like: Here you can grow and bring in crazy ideas. Nobody rolls their eyes when you think outside the box. And the best part: You don't have to fight through loads of bureaucracy. If you're motivated to develop yourself and show initiative, DPD supports that.»

DPD: «What benefits do employees appreciate most, and can you share a few examples or testimonials?»
Leo: «As a current example: We like to surprise our employees with new benefits, and we've decided to give everyone their birthday off as an additional free day for 2024 and 2025.»
DPD: «What non-financial benefits make DPD an attractive place to work?»
Leo: «A major advantage at DPD is our international atmosphere: We have an incredible mix of different cultures working together and so many languages being spoken - yet it feels like one unit. It's hard to explain - you have to experience it.
Another important aspect is how DPD recognizes and nurtures potential. I experienced this firsthand: My boss Patrik saw from the start how my experience as a product designer and startup enthusiast could be valuable for HR. Today, we develop innovative projects together - like our app for hybrid working, which even won the HR Swiss Award.
These exciting career paths that you can take with us are showcased in our video series 'Cold Water, Hot Careers' and soon in our new series 'Speed Success Stories'.
What I especially appreciate: Here, it's okay to make mistakes - they're simply part of growing. We'd rather take risks and try something new than stick to the old ways. This combination of openness to new ideas and opportunities for development makes a big difference. You can bring in your suggestions without fear of judgment - whether you're new or have been here for a while.»
DPD: «How does DPD support work-life balance?»
Leo: «Where the role allows, everyone can flexibly choose between office and home office work. Part-time work is also completely normal here - as a shift operation, we can offer various workload percentages and working hours.
Another plus: We're well-connected across Switzerland. This means if someone moves to another part of Switzerland, they can often work from a different location. And if someone wants to change their working percentage, we usually find a solution.
This seems to be well-received - we can see that quite clearly in our employee surveys.»
DPD: «Are there any specific programs or initiatives to encourage employees' professional development?»
Leo: «Professional development is an important part of what we do - and we're doing some really cool things here. For example, last year we started with language courses: Right in our building, during working hours, in cooperation with Academia Language School.
This fits perfectly with us, given how international we are. The courses were so well received that we're now looking at how we can extend the program to other locations. For me, this is a good example of how we support our people while improving team communication.
But that's not all - we have many other opportunities for development and new career paths – check out our career path videos that will be published on social media and our careers page in the coming months.»
DPD: «How does DPD adapt its benefits to employees' individual needs?»
Leo: «As mentioned earlier in the interview, we offer flexibility regarding hybrid work where the position allows it. Our motto: Get the job done.
What's special about this: We let the individual teams decide how they want to arrange this. They know their processes and needs best. Each department can develop its own model - without top-down directives.»
DPD: «In three words, how would you describe DPD as an employer?»
Leo: «Uncomplicated - courageous - human-centered.»
