Our Backstage Diary campaign: We show the faces behind the parcels

Our Backstage Diary campaign offers an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes. Through a series of videos, we aim to unveil and shed more light on the world behind the parcels for our customers, consignees and anyone else who is interested. But how did this one-of-a-kind campaign come about?

To find out, we held an exclusive interview with our project manager Ana.

A look behind the scenes at DPD

DPD: «What prompted the idea of launching the Backstage Diary campaign at DPD Switzerland?»
Ana: «Inspired by a successful internal campaign in 2021, which focused exclusively on our employees, we wanted to go one step further this year. We not only wanted to show the faces of our dedicated employees, but also to focus on our customers and consignees. Ultimately, it is these three groups – our employees, customers and consignees – who make us who we are. This vision gave rise to the idea for the Backstage Diary campaign.»

DPD: «What challenges did you face in implementing the campaign?»
Ana: «The biggest challenge was certainly planning the filming in order to find a suitable date, and at the same time making sure that our and our customers’ day-to-day operations could run smoothly. It was also crucial that everyone felt comfortable in front of the camera – not always an easy task. This challenge required a sensitive approach to create a relaxed atmosphere.»

DPD: «How were employees prepared for the shoots and how did they react?»
Ana: «We provided employees with all the details in advance and explained the purpose of the campaign in detail. There were also short briefings and test runs to help them relax in front of the camera. The reactions were predominantly positive. Many were proud to be part of the project and to be able to showcase their work and hobbies.»

DPD: «Which aspects of working at DPD Switzerland are highlighted in the videos?»
Ana: «The videos highlight various aspects of DPD Switzerland. The employee videos show how we work hard every day to offer our customers and consignees the best service. The focus of the customer videos is on partnership, whether with shippers or DPD Pickup parcelshops. They emphasise the benefits of working alongside DPD, because we are working towards the same goal: to provide the best delivery experience for our consignees! The consignee videos explain how DPD processes work and how we make the lives of our consignees easier and more straightforward with our various services.»

DPD: «What feedback have you received so far from employees and customers regarding the Backstage Diary campaign?»
Ana: «The feedback has been consistently positive. Employees were proud to be able to share their work and stories. At the same time, we received extremely good feedback from our customers. They hand over responsibility to us as soon as the parcel arrives and trust us to do our best – and that’s what the videos show. There is enormous appreciation for the teamwork with everyone!»

DPD: «Which objectives have already been achieved by the Backstage Diary campaign and which are still being pursued?»
Ana: «We could talk a lot about our marketing goals right now, but that’s not our top priority. Our aim with this campaign is to show that DPD would not be able to achieve the same thing on its own – not without the tireless work of our employees and not without the trust of our customers. We are proud of our partnerships, and so have achieved 100% of our target by being able to showcase the aforementioned points with a campaign.»

DPD: «What do you personally like most about the campaign so far?»
Ana: «Personally, I particularly like the fact that we can show the people behind the parcels and tell their stories.»

DPD: «Would you like to run a campaign like this again or do you say ‘once and never again’?»
Ana: «Definitely yes! The positive impact and enthusiasm generated by the campaign motivates me to pursue similar projects in the future. It is a wonderful opportunity to show our values and commitment.»

The authentic insights into the day-to-day work of employees and customers make it clear just how much dedication and passion goes into each individual parcel.
