Keeping up with the DPD pacemakers

In the fast lane with our very own Remo:

Sport boosts mental health and fosters team spirit. With the DPD Pacemaker campaign, we at DPD Switzerland want to support exactly that, showing how running can motivate us in both work and life while helping us grow stronger together. Remo, OPS Development & Lean Manager at DPD Switzerland, is part of this campaign.

Our Remo in an interview

1. ‘How long have you been with DPD, and what motivated you to join?’

Remo: ‘I’ve been with DPD since March 2018. I trained in parcel logistics before moving into general cargo and warehouse logistics. After that, I returned to parcel logistics in 2018 as a depot manager in Rothenburg. DPD gave me this opportunity, and I am very grateful for it.’

2. ‘How has your role at DPD evolved over time?’

Remo: ‘My journey at DPD began in 2018 as a depot manager in Rothenburg. From January 2019, I had the opportunity to manage the HUB in Buchs for three years – an exciting and challenging time, especially during the pandemic. In 2022, I took on the leadership of our internal LEAN programme, SMOVE!, driving the transformation of all depots across Switzerland. Since June 2023, I’ve been working as OPS Development & Lean Manager, optimising and developing various processes and projects within DPD alongside my team.’

3. ‘What excites you most about being a DPD pacemaker in a race?’

Remo: ‘It’s exciting to test myself against my own personal best. Race day is when you find out whether your training and preparation have paid off and whether you’re mentally ready to beat your record.’

4. 'How important is team spirit for you – both in running and in your daily work?’

Remo: ‘Running helps me clear my head and recharge with energy and inspiration. It has often helped me regain focus during difficult moments. I’m especially pleased that the running community at DPD is growing, allowing us to motivate one another and exchange training tips.’

5. ‘How do you motivate yourself when it’s hard to lace up your running shoes?’

Remo: ‘When I’m working towards a goal or an event, I’m highly focused – sometimes to the point where I have to remind myself to give my body enough rest. After an event, I often find it difficult to get back into training. At those times, I allow myself a break before setting my sights on the next goal with fresh energy.’

6. ‘What’s more important to you: achieving a fast time or enjoying the experience?’

Remo: ‘I love race days and the atmosphere at events because they reflect all the hard work I’ve put into my preparation. Races like the half marathon around Lake Hallwil or the SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne are unforgettable for me. Of course, I aim for a good time, but in the end, it’s about both – the unique experience and, hopefully, a successful finish.’

7. ‘Is there a particular running route you’d recommend to everyone?’

Remo: ‘My top pick is the half marathon around Lake Hallwil. The starting line is right on my doorstep, and I train on this route often. The SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne is also an incredible experience, especially with the large number of spectators along the route.’

8.‘What advice would you give to someone just starting out with running?’

Remo: ‘Just get out there and run! Forget about apps, guides and experts. Listen to your body and just give it a try.’

Thank you, Remo!

We wish you great pace and perfectly laced-up shoes for all your future runs!
