A brief insight into my internship in Marketing at DPD Switzerland

Dear Readers,
Some time ago, I was lucky enough to complete an exciting and informative internship in Marketing at DPD Switzerland. This time was not only full of new impressions, but also a valuable opportunity to get to know different aspects of marketing and immerse myself in the world of work. I would like to tell you about my experiences and offer some insights into a few exciting days during my time as a marketing intern.

A day full of teamwork and creativity

The day started in the morning, when I got to demonstrate my craftsmanship skills by filling the beanbags with polystyrene balls together with Ana. Although there was quite a mess, we saw the humour in the situation and laughed about it together.

Fortunately, setting up the tables went smoothly. A refreshing break on the terrace was followed by an exciting tour of the depot.
I was particularly impressed by the organisation, but also by the large number of parcels that are processed every day.
Lunch was a welcome break to recharge my batteries.

In the afternoon, I had a meeting with the graphic designer, where I gained many interesting insights into the world of design. It was cool to see how creative ideas are implemented and which tools are used to do it.

Overall, the day was a lot of fun and I’m glad I got so many varied insights into the world of marketing.

Behind the scenes of the marketing inventory

This day was mostly about the inventory. In the morning, we started clearing out the cabinets in the post room in order to tidy up and gain an overview of the existing inventory. Ana then counted the individual items while I recorded them on the list. Although this task required a lot of concentration, it was interesting for me to see what inventory DPD has.

I particularly enjoyed handing out the leftover Jass cards, as they put a smile on most people’s faces.

To round off the day, we removed the walls between the workstations and talked about a possible change in the seating arrangement.

I was allowed to head home at lunchtime and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. After this insightful day, I’m already looking forward to the next day of my internship.

Diverse insights into different departments

Today’s internship was extremely varied and exciting. I had the opportunity to gain insights into various marketing departments and would like to share my experience with you.

My day began with a deep dive into the Customer Experience department. Everything revolves around evaluating customer satisfaction and the steps taken to maintain it.

I was particularly impressed by all the graphics that visualise customer satisfaction.

One entertaining highlight was reading through customer complaints, some of which were very funny.

Another area was process development. The aim here was to develop and improve processes in order to facilitate collaboration within the company. Although the topic was a little complicated, I found it interesting to see how much work went into it.

I was particularly impressed by the field of artificial intelligence. It was impressive to see the positive effects AI can have on work processes and how much time it saves.

Another exciting area was social media. Today, social media is an indispensable means of communication and plays a decisive role in increasing reach. I learnt how important it is to post the right content in the right form to appeal to the largest possible audience.

My internship day was a bit strenuous, but I learnt a lot of new things about marketing.

First steps in digital marketing

Today, the day started straight away with a discussion about my responsibilities with regard to digital marketing and social media. I was then given the honourable task of replacing certain pictures on the DPD website and going live with them.

After some time, it worked out quite well and I really enjoyed it. It was a special task for me because it was the first time that I had gone live with something that could later be seen by other people from all over the internet. In doing this job, I also realised how much work goes into the little things.

Thankful for an enriching experience

I am very thankful for getting to know all these great people and for the new things I was able to learn during this internship. This experience has shown me that office jobs don’t necessarily mean sitting around all day and doing the same thing all the time.

In conclusion, my internship at DPD Switzerland was an incredibly enriching experience. I gained varied and exciting insights into the world of marketing and learnt many new things that will certainly be useful to me in my future professional career.
