The optimal route calculation for parcels
The optimal route calculation for parcels
The GeoRouting transformation is a DPDgroup initiative for supporting Self Integrated customers (= self printers) in the optimal route calculation for parcels.
The transformation includes standardising the way in which all DPDgroup business units across the world publicise, share and use their operational routing in order to attain more efficient, identical operational processes. We offer a range of options to make the switch easier, each with the necessary support from Customer IT.
Cost-savings thanks to fewer returns
Thanks to the daily update frequency of GeoRouting, the routing tables will be accurate. Consequently, the chance for misrouting and returns will decrease.
Straightforward international integration
Integration terms and conditions become uniform across the whole DPD network
Automatic network updates
We provide options and resources to ensure that routing table updates no longer require manual intervention
Always up to date
New destinations and services immediately available. Respond immediately to temporary local restrictions when certain regions are difficult or impossible to reach
Improved performance on the first delivery attempt
Automation of routing tables decrease lead times and potentially incorrect routes
Richer data format
More information thanks to addition of extra fields such as address lines, return addresses, etc.
Minimum scope
We explain the minimum scope below. Depending on your parcel volumes, you can choose the right method to implement this minimum scope.
On the one hand: the implementation of GeoRouting DB and the phasing out of BIC7 Route DB. The BIC7 Routing will no longer be generated by any DPD branch from 2023.
On the other hand: a data transmission audit in which DPD, along with the customer, validate the EDI setup as future-proof. The use of the DPD Belux SFTP is the standard unless API integration is selected.
Transfer label creation to the Shipper Webservice API and/or Shipper Online UI
Transfer label creation to the META API if activities are still being carried out in a minimum of one other DPD business unit

Before the end of 2022, all customers must have switched over to the new routing system.
50% of customers have already left behind the former BIC7 method and are instead using GeoRouting DB to calculate routing.

For the older MPSEXPDATA, our Customer IT department converts the MPSEXPDATA to GEODATA behind the scenes. However, updates will no longer be provided, meaning new services and products may not be usable with this EDI format. GEODATA is also a richer format, containing more interesting fields to improve visibility and references.
If desired, we can check whether your labels meet the new requirements.
You can always depend on us if you have any questions on the new service, mapping and their quality. To get support, contact Customer IT. You can find the details at the bottom of this page.
